The Assessment of Professional Behaviors (APB) Program was initiated by the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME®) to develop an instrument to assess professional behaviors as they are manifested in work and educational settings. The purpose of the program is to improve professional behavior through a formative multisource feedback process.

The APB instrument is currently undergoing development, testing, and refinement. Our commitment is to continue research to ensure the quality of the instrument and its utility for assessing professional behaviors. While a program for assessing professional behaviors would be fitting for a multitude of settings, NBME’s APB Program is currently designed for medical environments.
